“Ron: Look, I wanted to come back the minute I’d left. I just… didn’t know how to find you.”
“Harry:Exactly how did you find us?”
“Ron: With this ~Ron reaches his pocket, pull out the deluminator~ I doesn’t just turn off lights. I don’t know exactly how it works, but Christmas morning I— I was sleeping— in this little pub— I’d given some Snatchers the slip the night before, me being a blood-traitor and all— anyway, I was sleeping when I heard it..”
“Harry: It?”
“Ron: A voice. Your voice, Hermione. Coming out of this.”
“Hermione: And what did I say may I ask?”
“Ron: My name. Just my name. Like a whisper. So I took this and I clicked it and this tiny ball of light appeared. And I knew”
“Harry: Knew what?
“Ron: Just knew. On account of Hermione’s voice. And sure enough, it floated toward me, the ball of light, right to my chest and then — went straight through— right here. ~Ron touches a point close to his heart~ could feel it inside me. It was warm, like the first sip of a good cup of tea. And I knew it would take me where I needed to go. So I disapparated and came out on this hillside.. It was dark. Didn’t have any idea where I was. I just had to hope one of you would show yourselves in the end and you did.

This. Forever.

1. Did you pack a computer in your suitcase?

Torres: Yes, I use it to watch movies, series and keep up to date with my emails. The web site I visit the most is Wikipedia and I always use Skype to talk with my loved ones.

2. Movies or TV series?

Torres: I’ve stolen all the series I have from Xabi Alonso, who has an assortment. I’ve had time to watch so many that I’ve finished with Lost and Prison Break, and I’ve started Californication, Boston Legal, and The O.C. My favorite ones are those two that I finished, but I didn’t like their endings

3. Your favorite movie and actors.

Torres: I’ve been watching more series as of late but one of the movies that has marked me is Life is Beautiful.

4. What kind of music do you listen to?

Torres: Right now I’m listening to Oasis a lot, which I haven’t done in a while, and also above all else Elvis. Doctor Cota is a huge fan of Elvis and he made me interested in his music. I’ve looked for information on him, I read information about his career and it’s very interesting. It’s impressive.

5. A song that has marked you.

Torres: A lot, but if I have to say one, I’d say “Wonderwall” by Oasis.

6. Do you play videogames?

Torres: Yes, I play football games. I didn’t enter the competition that we have in the camp because it was closed already. The slots were taken rapidly (laughs).

7. What book are you reading in South Africa?

Torres: The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.

The bulky sweater he was wearing was distasteful. For the countless time I had saw him, he is always sitting on that particularly bench absent-mindedly staring at a distance. I hated him on sight. The bare trees seemed dead as the leaves had shed in welcoming of a new season. Fallen leaves and twigs drifted idly on the partially frozen pond, the whole city dusted by thick snow. I followed the trace of my four-legged pal to the direction of the park. But as soon as the gun-metal grey skies fall in, the trace of his foot print was off-track. “David, David!” I called as I walked briskly. The long search was staring to worried me, David must have sneak out from the dog door while I’m not attentive. My worried was well reasoned—how could he survive such piercing cold? I followed my instinct that David is still in the park, although it made sense to me that he could had went back home himself. The park was ghostly silent except from the gusty wind. Of course, such pitch dark moonless night everyone will rather stay at home. But, for the exception case, there was a man with gleaming blue orbs would do so. I was not wrong; he was in the park, curled up like a ball. His seem to be hypothermia, the clothes he wearing was not enough to embrace the cold. From his direction I could heard faint ring bells, like those on David’s chain. “Dave, David!” I called upon again, and pray for the answer. My creamy-fur pal nimble from his arm, and pounce onto me. He wiggles his tail, relishing the thought of returning home. Glad to be reunited, I extended my arm for a bear hug. The man smile weakly. I was taken aback that he was using his body heat to warm David as he does not seem to have much compassion about the every things around him. Uncharacteristically, I asked him if he need any help. He extended his arm and passed me some dollars, “please get me some beer” his voice was inaudible and his teeth chatting. I dazed, not expecting him to give me any money. But his pale face had told me he needs something more than that. “Thanks, but a beer will be good enough” he faltered. To my second surprise, he rejected my invitation for a shelter. I was amused by his pride. I brought him beer and food. His hands tremble while choking down the food. I sat by his side and thank him sincerely. The piercing blue eyes gazed into my own and I felt myself drowning in those great sapphire lakes and a feeling of calm swept over me. “Thanks for the food” he said jokingly with courteously. My attitude towards him has a hundred and eighty changes. He introduced himself as Jake, but did not tell me why he is camping in the park. Nevertheless one things I’d learn for him was, he maybe homeless but not some beggar that I excepted to be. Lastly, I will never forget how he rejected my offer to buy him a drink and a shelter for the pride that he have.

fuckyeahemmawatson:

How different are you from Harry? — Atra Oshana, Des Plaines, Ill.
I think I am probably quite different from Harry. [But] I think we’re both quite reserved in terms of how much we show our feelings. Neither of us particularly wears our heart on our sleeve. The value of friendship in both our lives is immense. And I also think we have a shared curiosity.

What do you think has been Harry’s greatest misstep or failure in judgment? — Susan Bevins, Winter Park, Fla.
Susan Bevins, you have asked a question no journalist has ever asked me. I think the way he treated his friends a couple of films ago was quite questionable. They’re always there for him, and he was a little bit ungrateful. I think Harry is a flawed character. He can be quite selfish and really manipulative. He’s not all sweetness and light.

The Harry Potter films have given you a chance to work with an extraordinary number of British acting royalty. Which ones have had the greatest effect on you? — Frank Hibrant, Cincinnati, Ohio
The two that have had the biggest effect on me would be Gary Oldman, who I became very close to, and Imelda Staunton. They’re both wonderful people and wonderful actors.

Both Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows are quite different from previous installments. How have you prepared yourself for the plot’s darker, deeper scenes? — Josh Hertzel, Omaha, Neb.
To be honest, that’s the kind of stuff I like doing and gravitate toward naturally. It probably comes easier to me than the comedy. On those days, I generally try to be as isolated as possible and listen to lots of music that will hopefully kind of depress me or get me into a less exuberant state.

If you could use any of the magical spells from Harry Potter, which would you choose? — Sohini Desai, San Diego
It’s not a spell, but if I could choose any magical thing, it would definitely be the lucky potion. If you have too much, apparently, it screws you up, but the idea of having that perfect day is just so wonderful.

Are you a Harry Potter fan? — Rochely Candaten Droves, Porto Alegre, Brazil
I am a fan of the books, certainly. In terms of the films, I enjoy watching everyone but myself very, very much. I don’t like watching myself. I don’t think many actors do. But, yeah, I am a fan. If I weren’t, I would’ve stopped ages ago.

What do you think about the way J.K. Rowling formed the plots of the books? — Frances Taylor, Sarnia, Ont.
Obviously, it’s inspired. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have done nearly as well as they have. They have taken the best bits of different kinds of literature. It’s the latest in a long line of orphan literature. There’s the English boarding school. There’s the good-vs.-evil thing. The fact that she came up with the entire thing on one train journey is pretty remarkable.

How would you advise someone to prepare for the role of Alan in Equus? — José Pérez, Barcelona
Study the script, develop an incredibly trusting relationship with your director and just lose your inhibitions. No one’s thinking about the nudity. You’d be mad if you’re not worried about that — it’s quite a scary thing — but you’re doing a job.

Do you plan to go to college? — Lindsay Carpenter, Milwaukee
No, I don’t. I am continuing my education. I have two weekly tutorials with a friend of mine who is also an English teacher. He comes on set and we talk through plays and books and poems. It’s a privilege.

Would you ever commit to the lead role in a movie series again? — Danielle Higson, St. John’s, Nfld.
It would be very hard to do that in a hurry. I think it would be a while, at least, before I did that. It would have to be very good.

Helen McCrory had been cast to play Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), but had to back out because she was pregnant. She will play Bellatrix’s sister, Narcissa Malfoy in this film.

Jessie Cave beat over 7000 girls to win the role of Lavender Brown, Ron’s “love-interest” from the book.

Hero Fiennes-Tiffin has been cast as Tom Riddle, Age 11, while his uncle, Ralph Fiennes plays Lord Voldemort (formerly Tom Riddle). His parents are Martha Fiennes(Ralph’s sister) and George Tiffin.

Quidditch at Hogwarts makes a grand (and much publicized) return, after being completely absent since the fourth installment. A full game of Quidditch has in fact not been featured since the 2nd film.

Robert Knox, who plays Marcus Belby, was tragically stabbed to death on May 24, 2008, just days after filming wrapped.

Director David Yates says that he hired Hero Fiennes-Tiffin to play the young Voldemort/Tom Riddle because of his resemblance to his uncle Ralph Fiennes (who plays Voldemort/Tom Riddle as an adult) but not specifically because he was the actor’s nephew. He liked the dark haunted quality about the young actor.

Christian Coulson, who played Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets, expressed an interest in returning as Riddle for this film, but David Yates felt that Coulson was too old for the role (he is close to 30).

Dame Maggie Smith completed filming this film whilst undergoing radio-therapy as treatment for breast cancer.

The original script included all of Dumbledore’s memories about Voldemort as outlined in the source novel, but the director insisted on trimming them down as, according to Steve Kloves, “..he wanted to showcase Voldemort’s rise without getting overly involved with his past as Riddle.”

The first Harry Potter film to be rated PG by the MPAA since Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004).

There is a scene in this movie in which Death Eaters, led by Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) and Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno), attack The Burrow where Harry, The Weasley’s, Lupin, and Tonks are staying. This particular scene was not in the book, but was made just for the movie to serve as a representative of all the news reports, which are scattered around in the source novel, about various attacks by Death Eaters on the wizard community. It was considered to provide better pacing for a movie to have Harry actually experience one such attack first hand, rather than hearing/reading about those that kept happening to some other students, or their relatives.

Over 7000 girls auditioned for the role of Lavender Brown, and read from a scene with Madam Pomfrey, Hermione and Ron. Ironically, Emma Watson recommended Jessie Cave for the role, although Cave hadn’t attended any auditions.

Jamie Campbell Bower hoped to be cast as a young Riddle. He was instead cast as the teenage Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The night scenes were filmed in the quaint village village of Lacock and the cloisters at Lacock Abbey for three nights, 25-28 October 2007. Filming took place from 5 PM-5 AM, and residents of the street were asked to black out their windows with dark blinds.

When Draco Malfoy goes to the room of Requirement for the final time, you can clearly see the harp that put Fluffy to sleep and the King from the game of chess that were in the first movie.

The second film to NOT open with a “Harry-centric” event. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opened with a scene from a chapter of the fourth book, “The Riddle House”. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens with an event which is mentioned in the first chapter of the sixth book, “The Other Minister”, where the Death Eaters collapse the Millennium Bridge in London. (Although the first images in this film are of Harry and Dumbledore at the Ministry of Magic after the battle with Voldemort in the fifth film, the first legitimate and complete scene is the Death Eater attack.)

The tapestry seen near the Room of Requirement is the last of seven in “The Hunt of the Unicorn” (or the “Unicorn Tapestries”) series, called “The Unicorn in Captivity.” The real tapestry can be found at the Cloisters in New York City.

The tapestry that we first see as Draco is walking the upper levels of Hogwarts is based upon “The Unicorn in Captivity,” one of a set of 7 known collectively as “The Hunt for the Unicorn”.

Mr. Weasley’s shed of Muggle artifacts contains, among other things, two Remington Noiseless Portable Typewriters and an HP Laserjet 4.

Eleanor Columbus had originally reprised her character of Susan Bones but her scene was cut.

Timothy Spall plays Wormtail for the third time (fourth, if one includes a photograph in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)), and is credited on the poster for this film, but he does not have a single line of dialogue.

This is the first Harry Potter film that does not feature any aspect of Defense Against the Dark Arts classes on screen, either direct (second through fifth films) or indirect (first film). The only mention of the subject occurs when Dumbledore announces Snape’s appointment to the open teaching position.

When Harry is in Dumbledore’s office at the end of the film, a bowl of lemon drops can be seen on his desk. This is a throwback to the first film, when Dumbledore announces they are his favorite Muggle candy.

At the beginning of the film, the Death Eaters destroy the Millennium Bridge in London. The bridge is not specifically named in the book. The book is set in 1995 - 1996, according to the Canon time line. The Millennium Bridge was not constructed until 1998, and opened on 10 June 2000.

While visiting Slughorn to get him to teach again, Dumbledore asks him if he can have a knitting magazine. On the cover is J.K. Rowling, the author of the beloved series.

The omission in this movie of the battle at Hogwarts between members of the Order of the Phoenix and Death Eaters was due to the fact that they writers did not want to seek repetition when they film the Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I(2010).

Much like the first book, some difference exist between the British and American editions of the text. One such difference is in the scene where Dumbledore takes Harry to meet Slughorn. In the American edition of the book, Dumbledore excuses himself to use the bathroom. In the film, he uses the more British term, “loo.” This is in contrast to the first film, in which such references were shot twice to accommodate American and British audiences.

This actually the second time Tom Felton and Jim Broadbent have worked together on film. The first time being on the 1997 film The Borrowers (1997) as members of the four-inch tall family; son Peagreen Clock and his father Pod Clock respectively.

In the flashback scene in which Dumbledore visits the young Tom Riddle in the orphanage, a photograph on the wall of Tom’s room depicts the same place that Dumbledore and Harry travel to in search of the third Horcrux (the locket). There are also seven rocks on the windowsill, which is the same number of Horcruxes that Tom/Voldemort created.

Even though they are mentioned in the novelization, the Dursleys do not appear. This is the second film they have been left out of, with the first being Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Originally to be released on November 20 2008, the studio decided to postpone it to July 16 2009. Officially, the decision, according to studio chief Alan Horn was largely due to the writer’s strike at that time, but unofficially and know to most, the decision was following the massive earnings made by another studio movie, The Dark Knight (2008) that released on that week of July. With that, Twilight (2008/I), which was supposedly to be released on December 12 2008, moved to fill in that vacant release slot.

The entrance to “The Leaky Cauldron” and, behind it, Diagon Alley is shown to be on Cranbourn Street, just off Charing Cross Road and across from Leicester Square tube station. This location is actually a very small city block, with Great Newport Street just a short distance behind it.

J.K. Rowling read through the script for this film, and found a line where Dumbledore mentions a girl he had a crush on when he was younger. After reading it, she informed the filmmakers that Dumbledore is in fact gay, and that his only romantic infatuation was with the wizard Grindelwald, whom he later had to defeat in a wizard duel. She later made this information public while promoting the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Two new scenes were added that do not appear in the book: The collapsing Millennium bridge (at the beginning of the film, and which appears in the Third Trailer) and the Death Eater attack at the Burrow (seen in the second trailer). An attack on a Muggle bridge is actually mentioned in the original opening of the book by Cornelius Fudge, but not shown.

Originally, the shooting script was written so that Harry takes possession of Dumbledore’s wand after he is killed. Shortly before filming began, the final book in the series came out, in which Dumbledore’s wand, and who possesses it, turn out to be major issues, so the script had to be changed.

Actor Tom Felton has stated in an interview that in the near end shot sequence of the film, after Snape kills Dumbledore and is leading the other Death Eaters out of Hogwarts and through the Great Hall, an accident had occurred on set a few minutes into the shooting: before the actors had started filming, Alan Rickman “turned around in this very sinister way and said, ‘don’t step on my cloak,’” (at the time of which it was unclear to his fellow co-stars if he was joking or not) as the director had instructed the other actors that when shooting began, they were to stay close behind Rickman as they followed him without looking at their feet - a difficult task due to the dragging length of Snape’s cloak. As shooting began during the second take, Felton, being the closest person to Rickman in the scene, had accidentally dug his heel into the cloak, causing Rickman’s neck to rip back. Felton had reported there was an awkward silence afterward, clear that Rickman was not in a good mood after the accident had occurred. Felton continuously apologized to Rickman afterward, in that Rickman did accept and made a joke of the accident later on.

When the trio (Harry, Ron and Hermione) are talking about Dumbledore’s age, Ron says “About 150, give or take a few years” and they start laughing as if it was a joke. In fact, Dumbledore is 115 years old at the time of his death.

Harry unknowingly has a glimpse the remaining two of the Deathly Hallows (Riddle’s Ring - Resurrection Stone, Dumbledore’s Wand - The Elder Wand) in Dumbledore’s office, the morning after the murder although he doesn’t know it until at the middle of the last book.

In America, a hot young actor might train on sitcoms, in Britain, the path to prominence includes a stop in tights. Period films are where British acting greatness is most often honed, and these thespians have done their time. Ben Whishaw has filled the waistcoats of Sebastian Flyte in “Brideshead Revisited” and John Keats in Jan Campion’s “Bright Star”; next is Julie Taymor’s “The Tempest.” in which he plays Ariel. Aaron Johnson moves into the 20th century as John Lennon in the artist Sam Taylor-Wood’s first flim, “Nowhere Boy.” Eddie Redmayne has appeared in two movies about Queen Elizabeth I; he’s due out next in the TV miniseries “The Pillars of the Earth,” set in the 12th century. Redmayne has no complaints about his repertory, although it has made for some unusual fashion choices. “You’ll be sitting there on set wearing your medieval shoes and thinking, you know, these might be a little odd, but they could work in Hoxton.”

Eddie Redmayne - London, England; 28
Aaron Johnson - High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England; 19
Ben Whishaw - Clifton, Bedfordshire, England; 29

laksjdhfg09:

You’ve done acting, modelling, and now you’re designing. Is this the future for Emma Watson?
Oh, I don’t have any plans to be a designer. I’m doing this range because I really care about fair-trade and ethical fashion. I’m so pleased that I got involved, but I don’t want to take all the credit for being the designer because I haven’t trained as a designer or even gone to art college – in fact, I had no idea about the amount of work involved at the outset!

So this is not an Emma Watson clothing line?
I didn’t want this collection to be all about me. This is not a celebrity endorsement, it is about creating something that is genuinely a great idea and about making a difference through fashion.

How did the collaboration come about?
It was all because my friend, Alex Nicholls, was wearing this great People Tree T-shirt one day, which I liked. He then told me all about the company – he knows Safia and said that I should meet her. He set up an introduction and Safia and I just clicked. A couple of weeks later she got in touch with the idea of a teen range – they were doing older ranges and baby clothes but nothing in between – and asked if I’d like to help put it together. I said yes straight away.

Wise move, People Tree – every teen wants to dress like you!
I am very interested in fashion and I’ve been working a lot in the fashion world recently – it’s such an influential industry, so I knew that trying to help people, trying to alleviate poverty through a fashion line, could work. Fashion is a great way to empower people and give them skills; rather than give cash to charity you can help people by buying the clothes they make and supporting things they take pride in. It’s that simple.

Where did you get your design inspiration for the range?
I went through my summer wardrobe and thought, ‘If I filtered this so that it was just the very basics, what would I want to keep?’ The answer was cotton vests, easy T-shirt dresses, nice scarves to accessorise with and some lovely linen pieces. For the boys’ range I’ve done hoodies, which I know they’ll love. The clothes are very British, which is why we shot them in an English country garden – it’s all very strawberries and cream and tennis.

We particularly like the T-shirts printed with slogans such as ‘I’m not toxic’ and ‘Please don’t panic, I’m organic’.
I was keen not to preach – you don’t want to be too serious or heavy. I also came up with a daisy print which I’m really proud of – it’s fun and messy. I just wanted to make clothes that are wearable, cool and easy.

What is your favourite part of the collection?
I would wear all the clothes, which are made in Bangladesh, India and Nepal, and there is also some amazing jewellery – especially a necklace made from recycled sweet wrappers, which is made in Bangladesh. It comes in a box also made of sweet wrappers. Brilliant!

It must have been a fast learning curve for you, being on the design side of things for the first time…
It was such fun going through all the Pantone colour books with Safia, but yes, I had to learn quickly – the colours on the page don’t always look the same on the fabrics, so you have to be patient. It’s a case of learning as you go along, and it’s all massively time consuming! When we did the first set of samples some of them looked great but others needed altering a lot.

If the reaction on the shoot is anything to go by, these clothes are going to be out of stock long before spring is here!
I really enjoyed the shoot. All the models are friends of mine: my housemate Sophie, my brother Alex. I basically called in favours – a lot of the crew are friends too. They are all super-talented, so I am very lucky that they were prepared to help out. I asked Andrea Carter-Bowman to do the photos as I just love her work, and she’s young. So this really is a collection for young people put together by young people. And I’m so proud of it – it’s exactly how I intended it to look.

You are something of a fashionista, but were you completely new to fair-trade fashion?
The first time I heard about fair trade was during a geography coursework project, and I remember thinking, ‘Why isn’t everything fair trade?’ Everyone knows about fair-trade bananas and coffee, but of course anything can be fair trade. Fair-trade fashion costs a bit more but allows those who make it to earn a decent living; to be able to take care of their families and live with dignity.

But do you think it is possible to enjoy high-street fashion and also support fair trade?
It’s important to differentiate between fast fashion, which is made very quickly for a very small price, and fair-trade fashion. So if you buy a T-shirt for £2, you just have to do the maths and work out how much the person who made it is being paid.

How realistic is it that the Primark generation will buy into this range and concept?
It sounds like a cliché, but we are the future. The earth is ours and will be our children’s, and I think that more than any other generation we are aware of environmental and humanitarian issues. That’s why it’s so great that People Tree is doing something aimed at people of my age – because we do care and we will buy with a conscience. I hope that more companies will follow People Tree’s example.
